GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Please be aware that there will only be very limited capacity for on-line presentations. Most of the sessions will be held in an in-person format only.
  • Before submission, please ensure you select the applicable link for either the World Congress of Bioethics (WCB) or the Feminist Approaches to Bioethics (FAB).
  • Do not submit the same or similar (e.g. title slightly tweaked) abstract to both congresses.
  • The abstract submission for the WCB is limited to a maximum of two abstracts per presenting author (whether they are the first author or a co-author).
  • Contributions must be submitted online.
  • All papers must be written and presented in English.
  • All submissions will be evaluated in anonymised form (i.e. without author information) by the scientific committee of FAB or the WCB.

Author information

Please provide complete and accurate information on all contributing authors.
This includes the full name, institution/organisation and location and email address of every (co-)author.

The person making the submission is wholly responsible for the accuracy of the information. The information will be printed as submitted. Please use your institutional/work address.

Presenting authors

Every submission must name at least one presenting author. The presenting author must register for the congress(es) to which they have submitted their abstract, upon abstract acceptance.

Evaluation

  • Contributions will be anonymised before being evaluated by the reviewer group appointed by the scientific programme committee.
  • Each contribution will be evaluated separately by at least two reviewers.
  • The scientific programme committee will select contributions for acceptance in a final round of evaluation based on the expert evaluations. The decisions are final.
  • The scientific programme committee will assess the initial evaluation scores alongside further relevant goals of the WCB, such as diversity of region and inclusion of Early Career Researchers.

Full oral, short oral and poster abstracts

The Scientific Committee of the Congress will use, among others, the following four criteria for reviewing the abstracts:

    1)         Relevance to the field of bioethics and to the theme of the Congress
    2)         Originality; significant contribution to existing knowledge
    3)         Clarity of ideas and expression
    4)         Depth and critical analysis

    Panel and Workshop Proposals

Further to the above, additional criteria are:

    1)      Relevance to the field of bioethics and to the theme of the Congress
    2)      Originality; significant contribution to existing knowledge
    3)      Well-defined and focused objectives
    4)      Potential impact and added value for panel/workshop participants
The scientific programme committee will select contributions for acceptance in a final round of evaluation based on the expert evaluations. The decisions are final.

Publication

Submitted contributions will be used for:

  • Online evaluation
  • The committee’s selection meeting
  • Publication of the abstract on the event website upon acceptance
  • Publication of the accepted abstracts in congress event programme

Participation

It is required that at least one person per accepted abstract (i.e. the presenting author) registers for the congress. Naturally co-authors and other researchers are welcome to register and participate in the congress. We require registration of the presenting author to ensure that paper/presentation slots given to accepted abstracts are used and to avoid no-shows since many abstracts will be rejected due to space reasons.
