Dr Hafsa Essop
University of Pretoria, Gauteng



Dr. Hafsa Essop is a Senior Lecturer and First-Year Coordinator in the Department of Radiography at the University of Pretoria. With a strong passion for teaching and learning, she is dedicated to building a strong academic and professional foundation for first-year students, shaping their attitudes and perspectives as future healthcare professionals. Dr. Essop has pioneered several innovative educational initiatives, including a radiography board game titled Throw the Bones and a creative hospital orientation known as The Amazing Radiography Race. She is also actively involved in simulation-based education, using mock court cases to engage students in critical discussions around radiation protection. Her contributions to education have been recognized with a Merit Award in 2019 for Teaching and Learning from the School of Healthcare Sciences, as well as a runner-up Merit Award in the Established Educator category from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Pretoria.

Dr. Essop serves as a mentee of the ICRP, Task Group 123, focusing on classifying harmful radiation-induced effects on human health for radiological protection. She has published several articles on teaching and learning within the radiography profession and contributed to a chapter in an ISSRT publication reflecting on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.



Dr Henra Muller
Central University of Technology,
Free State


Henra Muller obtained a doctorate in Radiographic Sciences in 2022 at the University of the Free State. At the Central University of Technology, Free State, she obtained a National Diploma (Diagnostic Radiography) in 1998, a Baccalaureus Technologiae in 2000, and a Master’s degree in 2015. She also obtained a European Federation of Radiographers (EFRS) Diploma in Radiography in Medical Imaging in Vienna, Austria (2019). 

She started her career in the Department of Radiology, Universitas Academic Hospital, in 1998 and worked as a chief radiographer and radiation control officer until early 2017. She has extensive experience in clinical practice, CT, magnetic resonance imaging and angiography. Since 2017, she has been lecturing in Radiography at the Central University of Technology. The focus of her research is to study CT image quality parameters. She has published her research in accredited international journals and has presented her work at several national and international conferences. She is a senior lecturer in the Radiography programme and the postgraduate coordinator.





Dr Bea van der Linde
Central University of Technology,
 Free State



Dedicated to diagnostic radiography, Dr Bea van der Linde brings a thoughtful and focused approach to diagnostic radiography-related research. With experience in both social and natural science research, Dr van der Linde values collaboration and problem-solving to achieve meaningful outcomes. Passionate about paediatric dose and image optimisation studies, Dr van der Linde enjoys contributing to impactful work while continually learning and growing.
