IAFR Post-Congress Workshop

The IAFR are pleased to offer the Non-accidental injury (NAI) course for Radiographers in South Africa!

ABOUT

The purpose of this course is to provide further education for registrants on the medicolegal aspects of non-accidental injuries (NAI) in paediatrics, importance of the radiographic projections required and positioning tips.

This is a two part course consisting of an online theory component and a practical workshop. The online theory component can be taken as a stand-alone course.

Online Course

The online component is presented by radiographers and radiologists from the UK, Australia & New Zealand and South Africa and covers the following content:

  • Common signs and symptoms of physical abuse in paediatrics
  • Radiological guidelines for the imaging of suspected non-accidental injury (NAI)
  • Skeletal Surveys of children
  • Post-mortem examinations for NAI
  • Common findings
  • Medico-Legal Aspects and Protocols

The course can be completed at your own pace should take approximately 2.5 hours to complete. A certificate is issued upon successful completion.

Practical Workshop

The practical workshop allows attendees the opportunity to ask questions about the online content, current imaging guidelines and practice positioning with a lifelike model.

The workshops will be held at Century City Conference Centre, Meeting Room 07 on the morning of Sunday 20th August 2023. Workshops are approximately 1.5 hours long. 

Those wishing to attend the practical workshop will need to successfully complete the online course at least 48 hours prior to the to the workshop and  will be required to show their certificate of completion at the workshop.
