Message from the President
It is my great pleasure to announce the SORSA 2/2026 Virtual Symposium to be held on 7 November 2026. We celebrate World Radiography Day and have adopted the theme of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiologic Technologists “Upholding Patient Safety.”
Patient safety is the priority for radiography professionals. Every examination, every procedure, and every decision we make carries a responsibility to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care while benefiting from the safe and appropriate use of ionising radiation. As advances in technology continue to transform medical imaging and radiation medicine, our commitment to radiation protection, evidence-based practice, and continuous professional development has never been more important.
This symposium will focus on two sessions: (i) Dose Reference Levels (DRLs) and (ii) Patient Safety. Dr Ida-K Sebelego, the Chairperson of the SORSA DRL Task Team is coordinating the first session. Ms Yolanda Thambiran, the Chairperson of the SORSA Quality and Safety Task Team is coordinating the second session.
We hope this Symposium will provide a valuable opportunity for radiographers, educators, researchers, students and other health professionals involved in radiation medicine to update their knowledge and to participate in discussions emerging from the presentations.
We remain committed to fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and lifelong learning so that radiography continues to deliver high-quality, patient-centred healthcare.
I extend my sincere appreciation in advance to the organizing committee, the distinguished speakers, sponsors and every attendee whose participation will make this Symposium possible.
Together, let us strengthen our shared commitment to upholding patient safety and shaping a safer future for medical imaging and radiation medicine.
