It is a great pleasure and privilege to announce the RSSA Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Course 2023 for Friday 21 – Sunday 23 April 2023 at the Protea Hotel Technopark, Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

This hands-on, interactive teaching course will be conducted by internationally renowned musculoskeletal radiologists Prof Jon Jacobson, Prof Eugene McNally and Dr Andrew Grainger and Dr Catherine McCarthy.

This comprehensive course covers MSK ultrasound anatomy, scanning techniques, and an extensive spectrum of pathology including sports and rheumatological imaging. Ultrasound guided intervention including tendon treatment options and soft tissue biopsy will also be illustrated. The course is centered around practical tips and techniques to incorporate into clinical practice. The structure of the course is a combination of lectures, live scanning demonstrations and small interactive hands-on workshops under the guidance of expert tutors. The small group hands on workshops are streamed for basic to advanced skill levels with limited delegate numbers to ensure ample hands-on experience with personalised supervisionThe congress also presents the opportunity to use and compare different ultrasound machines from various companies.

There is the option to book the first two days of lectures  and live demonstrations only, or the full three days including the small group hands-on workshops on day three. Enrolment for the hands-on workshops on Sunday 23 April 2023 is limited to 75 delegates only to allow for sufficient hands-on experience for all participants.

Ultrasound is an important imaging method for evaluation of the musculoskeletal system with proper training and education.  This course will be of particular interest to radiologists and sonographers but all other healthcare providers in fields related to the musculoskeletal system are welcome.
