Dear Colleagues

The Society of Radiographers of South Africa (SORSA) and the International Association of Forensic Radiographers (IAFR) are excited to invite you to the SORSA–IAFR  2025 Congress. This international joint initiative will be hosted from 5-7 September 2025 at the Century City Conference Centre (CCCC) in Cape Town, South Africa.

Century City is centrally located in relation to the greater Cape Town metropole, with easy access from the popular Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, and the Southern, Northern and West Coast suburbs. It is strategically located on the N1 highway, just a few minutes from Cape Town Business District. Its situation on the N1 also provides convenient access to the Cape Town International Airport, and the Cape Winelands. Cape Town’s largest shopping centre, Canal Walk, which has more than 400 shops and restaurants is within easy walking distance.

This congress will cater for all disciplines of radiography, exposing delegates to the latest technological advances and the most informative and stimulating academic engagements.  Whilst the programme will be hybrid in nature with both face-to face and virtual attendance (no live-streaming) and presentations, we encourage as many of you to attend in person in order to take advantage of this unique international networking opportunity.

The organising committee of the SORSA–IAFR  2025 Congress have invited distinguished speakers to address this forum who will be sure to enhance the aims of both societies of improving healthcare, promoting radiation safety for patients and staff, ensuring the highest standards of forensic investigation and respect for the deceased and to be dedicated to international exchange and cooperation.

Highlights of the programme include both General and Forensic Radiography tracts comprising the following themes; Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Imaging, Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs), Ethics and Medico-legal Implications in Radiography, Education and Training - environmental sustainability, Research, Advances in Nuclear Medicine and Combination Therapy in Oncology, Radiation Protection, Back to Basics in Forensic Radiography, Paediatric Forensics, Forensic Radiology of Inflicted Trauma, Role of Forensic Imaging in Human Rights Investigations, Unexpected Applications of Forensic Imaging and Emerging & Future Technologies in Forensic Imaging. There will be a call for abstracts related to these themes. Prizes will be awarded for the best oral and poster presentations.  CEUs will be awarded for attendance on a per session basis.

This meeting will afford delegates the opportunity to network and to learn and share experiences with each other. It will be the ideal opportunity to exchange ideas, learn about new advances, to make new acquaintances and to strengthen friendships.

Leading commercial vendors will be present to support clientele and to promote their latest technology and equipment.   Please do not miss this opportunity - be sure to diarise now!

On behalf of SORSA and IAFR, Dr Fozy Peer and Dr Mark Viner, respectively, would love to host you at the SORSA–IAFR  2025 Congress and look forward to welcoming you to Cape Town in 2025.

Sincerely

Dr Fozy Peer (D Tech:  Rad)

Dr Mark Viner (FCR, PhD)
